Chamber shape

Round chambers are less expensive because the manufacturing costs associated with ensuring that the unit can withstand the pressures generated are lower. Rectangular chambers make better use of the available chamber volume if the unit is front loading. Rectangular/square chambers will have a usable height, width and depth shown, whereas round chambers will have either a usable height (for top loading unit) or usable depth (for front loading units) and usable diameter shown.

Heating method

"Electric (in chamber)" means that the heating element in the chamber generates steam by boiling off the water that it is immersed in. In "electric steam generator" units the heating element is isolated so as to give increased steam control. If you want to make use of an existing steam supply, choose a "from steam supply" unit. No electrical (in chamber) means that a hob or flame will be required. "Non contact heating elements" are never in direct contact with water. This removes the risk of limescale build up on elements and also makes cleaning the chamber very easy.
