Fluidised Sand Baths

A fluidised sand bath is a high-precision, dry heating system used in laboratories and industrial settings for uniform, stable temperature control without the risks associated with oil baths. It operates by passing compressed air through a fine, inert aluminium oxide or sand-like medium, causing it to behave like a fluid and ensuring even heat distribution around inserted vessels. Fluidised sand baths offer excellent thermal stability, rapid heat transfer, and are ideal for applications requiring consistent temperatures—such as glassware cleaning, calibration, thermal testing, or reaction heating. Unlike oil baths, they are clean, low-maintenance, and safe, making them suitable for high-temperature processes up to 600°C. This technology enhances safety, repeatability, and efficiency in thermal processing, especially in research, chemical, and materials science laboratories.
