The instrument
XDS-3FL is an advanced inverted epifluorescence microscope. Thanks to its special FLUO objectives, designed with quartz and special glasses (low in auto-fluorescence), XDS-3FL is upgradable with every kind of fluorescence filterset. The instrument offers, in the same unit, brightfield and phase contrast capabilities, thus extending its potentials to most multi-contrast applications.

Optical System
The epifluorescence optical system is implemented via the standard excitation filter-dichroic mirror-barrier filter combination, applied to a 100W Hg lamp. It is supplied with EWF10x/22mm extra-widefield eyepieces, long working distance IOS FLUO objectives, and a double filterblock set (blue and green excitation as standard configuration). The extensive range of optional accessories allows a quick interchange of contrast mechanisms, and it is optimized for multi-contrast observation without removal of the specimen from the stage.

Ergonomy
Every control is easy to reach, every component has been designed with ease of use in mind. The focusing and specimen translation controls are designed to allow to rest the wrists on the table. The brightfield light intensity regulation is placed very close to the focusing knobs. The specimen stage is fitted with a special glass insert, that allows to see the objectives, for immediate identification of the magnification setup..

A complete solution
All included, in the right place: this is the philosophy underlying this instrument. XDS-2 is equipped with a full series of objectives, that covers most standard applications. The translating stage is included in the standard equipment, and so is a set of 4 objectives (4x and 40x for brightfield; 10X and 20X for phase contrast).

Optika XDS-1C Inverted Microscope

The XDS-1C from Optika is a high quality microscope with excellent optics. It is equivalent in specification to the Olympus CK range and the Nikon TE range. However, for a limited period Wolf is offering this microscope at a very competitive price. The special stand allows tall containers Erlenmeyer flasks to be used, giving this model a high degree of versatility, which can be further increased with the help of the optional accessories.

TECHNICAL FEATURES:

HEAD: 
binocular with adjustment of the interpupillary distance and diopter compensation.

EYEPIECES: pair of WFIOx/20mm wide field eyepieces.

OBJECTIVES: high performance, long working distance planachromatic: lOx/O.25 (working distance 7.9 mm); 25x/O.40 (working distance 5 mm); 25x/O.40 for phase contrast (working distance 5 mm), fitted with relative phase ring; 40x/O.65 (working distance 3 mm).

NOSEPIECE REVOLVER: 4-position.

STAND: made entirely of metal, stable and ergonomic, fitted with wrist rests on the sides.

SPECIMEN TABLE: 180x155 mm, fitted with specimen clamps and graduated double vernier mechanical stage, with coaxial controls perpendicular to the table. 75mm (X axis) and 50mm (Y axis) traversing. The table is fitted with 4 specific interchangeable metal inserts for the use of Petri dishes of different diameters, flasks, etc.

FOCUSING: coaxial macro and micro-metric adjustment controlled by a double pair of knobs located on both sides of the stand. The limit switch mechanism can be set by a special control.

CONDENSER: for long working distances, it can be centered and adjusted for height. Fitted with an iris diaphragm and slot for inserting the phase contrast rings.

ILLUMINATOR: with 6V/20W halogen bulb that can be centered by means of specific controls. Fitted with a field diaphragm and filter holder with a set of coloured filters incorporated (blue, green, yellow gray/neutral) that can be selected by rotating the filter holder itself. Continuously adjustable light intensity using a rheostat located in the base of the appliance.

PHOTO/VIDEO APPLICATIONS: a special optical conduit for photo/video applications is located inside the stand, with the end facing forwards. It allows reflex cameras and CCD TV cameras to be connected using special adapters.
