Our ultra-low temperature freezers in use at the UK’s first Zoological BioBank!
The Cryoark project has established a UK-based zoological biobank in collaboration with National Museums Scotland. This biobank holds over 10,000 samples from animal specimens which will provide a wealth of opportunities for the expansion of conservation and research. Projects such as these open the door for advanced research into biodiversity and the protection of endangered species. The ground breaking numbers of DNA samples will be made available on a web portal for researchers.
For a biobank to run effectively, specialist ultra-low temperature freezers are required for sample storage. Therefore, we are very proud to announce that we have supplied the zoological biobank in National Museums Scotland with 3 x Haier DW-86L578J -80°C freezers. Along with the freezers, we also provided the biobank with freezer magnets featuring different animals! These magnets will enable researchers to differentiate between the freezers and also show the endangered species that the project is working to protect.
These freezers not only have large capacities, they also have temperature uniformity of within 5°C and thanks to low power consumption they have a reduced environmental impact. We look forward to continuing to provide our products to amazing projects such as the zoological biobank in the future!
