Read about some of the fantastic research Mirre Simons and Laura Hartshorne are conducting using our LMS Incubator range.
The large LMS incubator is used for general fruit fly stock keeping and growing drosophila for experiments, supporting extensive longevity studies involving up to 100,000 individual flies per research. The standard conditions of 25°C and a 12-hour light/dark cycle are easily configured with the user friendly controller, making the LMS unit a perfect fit for their intricate investigations.
They also currently use smaller incubators at 29°C and 18°C to conduct longevity experiments at different temperatures. Utilizing drosophila as a model species, they aim to understand how we can lead longer and healthier lives. Various ongoing experiments include investigating individual amino acids and lifespan, studying metal toxicity, examining the impact of diet on aging, exploring a cancer model, and pursuing many other projects.
