Analog and Digital Vacuum Ovens

Click here to see the Binder Oven range

Vacuum ovens are used for a wide variety of vacuum drying, curing, and moisture content testing. common applications include drying heat sensitive samples, moisture determination, and drying samples under a controlled atmosphere. SHELLAB vacuum ovens are specifically designed for unparalleled performance when utilized for these, and other, applications.
Since there is no air in the vacuum chamber, heat is transferred from the heating elements to the interior chamber wall, then to the shelves, and finally to the samples. SHELLAB vacuum ovens maximize conductive heat techniques. To minimize conductivity resistance, ALUMINUM shelves are provided with all SHELLAB vacuum ovens. The oven chambers are wrapped in high temperature insulation which aids overall performance and promotes energy efficiency.

Sheldon offers both standard ANALOG vacuum ovens with mechanical thermostats and a range of high-performance, MICROPROCESSOR CONTROLLED models. Both ranges include unique design features which enhance the overall performance of the ovens. These features include durable construction with corrosion resistant stainless steel chambers, true vacuum valves, cross-flow ventilation through the oven chamber, and interchangeable door gaskets for application specific use. Independent, resettable circuit breakers prevent any electrical overload.

Analog Models for Accuracy and Economy
The Models 1410 and 1430 feature hydraulic thermostats and corrosion resistant stainless steel interiors. A 13mm thick tempered glass observation window resists breakage under vacuum and permits easy viewing of the chamber interior. Glass viewing windows are "spring mounted" which allows the door to close squarely, thus ensuring a tight seal around the oven door. Furthermore, the door gasket has a beaded edge which also ensures vacuum integrity.
Model 1410 and 1430 Key Features:
Microprocessor Control
Stainless Steel Exterior
Dual Door
Cross Flow Ventilation
Inter-changeable Gasket
Access Port
True Vacuum Valves
Stainless Steel Vacuum Tubing
Positive Door Latch
Aluminum Shelves
Tempered Glass Viewing Door resists shatter, and allows for easy viewing of all shelves.
Square Chamber
Seamless Stainless Steel Interior
Isolated Electronics
High Temperature Insulation
Digital Models for Top Performance and Accuracy
In addition to the standard ANALOG models, Sheldon also offers the Models 1410D, 1430D, and 1450D DIGITAL vacuum ovens. Our PID (Proportional Intergral Differential) controller delivers precise temperature stability and uniformity. A touchpad control panel provides easy parameter setup and even temperature calibration. Both setpoint and actual chamber temperatures are digitally displayed.
The SHELLAB DIGITAL vacuum ovens feature all stainless steel construction; both chamber interior and oven exterior. All models have two doors; the inner door featuring a "spring mounted", tempered glass viewing window. Closing the outer stainless steel door serves to greatly diminish any heat dissipation through the glass viewing window. All doors are secured with a positive door latch.

Model 1410D, 1430D, and 1450D Key Features:
Cross Flow Ventilation
Inter-changeable Gasket
Access Port
True Vacuum Valves
Stainless Steel Vacuum Tubing
Positive Door Latch
Aluminum Shelves
Tempered Glass Viewing Door resists shatter, and allows for easy viewing of all shelves.
Square Chamber
Seamless Stainless Steel Interior
Isolated Electronics
High Temperature Insulation
The standard gasket supplied with all models is made of highly resistant SILICONE rubber. Also available as optional accessories are application specific gaskets. The BUNA-N gasket is available for solvent applications and is limited to a maximum temperature of 160 Deg. C. The VITON-B gasket is available for application involving acids.
All SHELLAB vacuum ovens feature a unique cross-flow ventilation design to ensure superior performance. The vacuum port is located inside the chamber on the top, left side, while the vent port is located on the bottom right side of the chamber. Therefore, during vacuum operation, heavy particles or condensation from the oven interior are not pulled into the vacuum pump. More importantly, Nitrogen, or other inert gas, is forced across the greatest distance inside the oven chamber, passing over your samples, and purging the chamber. Corrosion resistant stainless steel tubing is used for the gas purge piping system.

Model 1495D Vaccuum Oven/Station

Vacuum ovens are used for a wide variety of vacuum drying, curing, and moisture content testing. Common applications include drying heat sensitive samples, moisture determination, and drying samples under a controlled atmosphere. SHELLAB vacuum ovens are specifically designed for unparalleled performance when utilized for these, and other, applications.

The model 1495D is a general-purpose vacuum oven specially designed for professional and industrial use. The most salient feature of this oven is its size: 9 cubic feet (255 Litres). The oven is secured to a ruggedly constructed mobile stand, thus creating a vacuum station. The stand is designed for mounting a vacuum pump at the base. Although the oven is not supplied with a vacuum pump, all vacuum plumbing and KF25 connections are provided. Stainless steel is used for all vacuum tubing and connections.

A digital vacuum gauge, mounted in the control panel, shows the chamber vacuum level in measurements of Torr and m/Torr. Although this gauge has the capacity to act as a controller, in this application it functions only as a gauge with display. The display range is 760 torr down to 0 mil torr.

The microprocessor based main temperature controller offers multiple ramp and soak capabilities. The WATLOW 981 programmable controller is capable of storing and running up to 24 steps of ramp and soak temperature profiles. A secondary, and completely independent, High Limit controller provides overtemperature safety protection. All controls are easily adjustable at the control panel.

Since there is no air in the vacuum chamber, heat is transferred from the heating elements to the interior chamber wall, then to the shelves, and finally to the samples. To minimize conductivity resistance, Aluminum shelves are provided. The oven chamber is wrapped in high temperature insulation, which aids overall performance and promotes energy efficiency. All stainless steel construction, true vacuum valves, and cross-flow ventilation through the oven chamber aid overall performance.

Vacuum Ovens - Microprocessor Controlled

Simulate the same environments you find when flying at high altitudes. Without the flying part. We were thinking. Always thinking. Always trying to find new ways to give you top-of-the-line products. We have a history of firsts in the industry. But our heads aren't in the past; they're in the future, thinking up other firsts to create. That's how we keep temperature and pressure constant. That's how our products endure heavy use. And that's how we plan to stayŃforever supplying products of constant thinking. With that in mind, here are specs on our digital vacuum ovens:

Cool outer surface - A result of our double plenum design, which exceeds CE safety requirements.

Introduced gas saturates chamber uniformly - Our unique cross-flow ventilation forces inert gas to fill the entire chamber, as seen to the right.

Maintains precise temperature - Our PID controller combined with appropriately sized heating elements maintains precise temperature stability with no overshoot.

Won't over heat - Our independent over-temperature safety control maintains chamber temperature should the main control malfunction.

A product of constant thinking for constant use - Durable construction with seamless welds and strong bracing.

All of our vacuum ovens are built with a stainless steel chamber for exceptional durability. We use true vacuum valves built of brass with 3/8" orifices to withstand heavy use and minimize draw-down time. The doors have positive latch handles with spring loaded glass to facilitate a good vacuum seal without leaks. A selection of gaskets (for specific applications) and a small bench top footprint increase the versatility of our ovens. And they all come with a 12-month warranty. We were the first to bring square vacuum ovens to the industry and we continue to offer innovative, top-of-the-line vacuum ovens.
