- Automatic Rotor Identification System
- Both Falcon centrifuges incorporate the well known MSE
automatic rotor identification system. This important
feature ensures that the centrifuge recognises the rotor in
use and prevents it from being used beyond its maximum
speed. Once the centrifuge has identified the rotor it can
also work out the ‘g’ force at any set speed. This means
that the centrifuge can convert rpm to ‘g’ and vice versa
once a run has commenced.
- Microprocessor Controlled Induction Drive
- Brushless induction drive motors have become a familiar
feature in bench top centrifuges since they were first
introduced by MSE in the early 1980’s. Naturally both
Falcons follow this tradition. Combined with microprocessor
control, each version exhibits extremely accurate run to run
reproducibility – an important feature for users where
accountability for analysis and production is becoming an
increased necessity.
- Fully Programmable
- Operation of both units is fully programmable with a
memory capability of up to 49 different programs. This
includes all parameters such as speed (or ‘g’ force), time,
acceleration rate, brake rate and temperature control.
- Safety Features
- MSE have always prided themselves on customer safety and
the Falcons prove to be no exception. Both centrifuges have
a 7mm steel guard ring so that in the unlikely event that
there should be a disruption, no debris can escape from the
centrifuge. An imbalance sensor aborts a run if a
significant imbalance is detected and a lid interlock
prevents the lid from being opened when the rotor is in
motion.
- Wide Range of Accessories Available
- Most centrifuge work can be accomplished using the 4 x
750ml windshielded rotors, as these are available with a
wide range of adaptors that fit into the 750ml buckets.
Microtitre carriers and special buckets for 250ml tissue
culture bottles are available on the 4 x 750ml non–windshielded
rotor only. The 8 x 200ml swing–out rotor and various angle
rotors complete the full list of accessories making this one
of the most versatile centrifuges on the market. Please see
rotor tables for details.
