Applied Biophysics ECIS Real Time Cell Growth Monitoring

ECIS Time Lapse Video

The following is a time lapse video clip which covers a period of 3 hours 52 minutes. It is an image of the 250 micrometer diameter ECIS electrode array partially covered with MDCK cells.

Shown below are two graphs. The first is a plot of the area covered by the cells as a percent of the total 250 micrometer electrode area at any given time. The second graph plots the change in resistance, as measured by ECIS, verses time. It demonstrates how closely the ECIS resistance measurement correlates to the actual area covered by the cells.

This video clip and graph compliments of Dr. Birgitte Freiesleben, University of Oslo.
